When did the business first start operating? On March 11, 2016, our journey began as an adventure apparel company founded by a passionate adventurer. Over time, we evolved into a full-fledged adventure industry, diversifying our product range beyond apparel to include essential gear and accessories such as belt bags, unbreakable enamel cups, hammocks, rain tarps, and more.
Can you share the story or significance of the name? The name ‘KAI’ finds its origins in the Hawaiian word ‘ocean,’ reflecting our commitment to offering a vast expanse of outdoor adventures. However, in our journey’s evolution, we’re considering a name change to ‘Kalikasan Adventure Industries.’ This transition underscores our dedication to providing adventurers and enthusiasts with the products they require for their outdoor pursuits. ‘Kalikasan’ pays homage to nature, the ultimate playground for outdoor enthusiasts, honoring the source of our inspiration and passion.”
What are your favorite things about working at this company? While we wholeheartedly enjoy and embrace outdoor adventures and our deep connection with nature, we also channel our expertise gained from these experiences into continuous innovation and the creation of a diverse range of outdoor products, tailor-made for fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
What is your view on recyclable/sustainable products? Recyclable and sustainable outdoor products mark a substantial stride towards a more eco-conscious and environmentally responsible future. Crafting such products embodies a commitment to positive contributions on multiple fronts, and we are dedicated to championing and manufacturing items that strive for the preservation and conservation of our natural world. Moreover, the growing enforcement of stringent environmental regulations in various regions underscores the imperative nature of sustainable production. It has transitioned from being a choice to an essential element for ensuring the long-term viability of our business. By integrating recyclable and sustainable practices into our outdoor product production, we not only protect the environment but also position our brand as a visionary and responsible leader within the industry.
What was the biggest challenge in operating your business? Did you learn something from it or feel motivated to put in more effort? Our foremost challenge in running our company lies in our products being offered in limited editions. Additionally, the outdoor industry is brimming with diverse local brands, offering customers plenty of alternatives to choose from. However, our unwavering motivation is to support outdoor enthusiasts by providing dependable and high-quality products that enhance safety/comfort amidst the rigors of the great outdoors. We take pride in making challenging outdoor tasks more manageable and enjoyable, fulfilling our commitment to our valued customers.
